Mackay LFSS recently completed a vehicle fitout for the Mackay Airport. The logistics of the fitout had an interesting challenge because the current vehicles needed to have items removed and refitted to the new vehicles. This had to be done in the shortest possible time as the existing vehicle had to be taken 'out of service' creating a potential safety risk at the airport.

The workshop team not only met the breif but far exceeded the expectations placed on them.

The fitout included a custom made XL Service Body that incorporated an additional mounting bar with platform for sirens and beacons. It also included a custom made tonneau cover for the XL Service Body.

An ICOM-A110 VHF Radio package, approved for ground use was installed by our auto electrical team as well as full wiring and installation of the Beacons, PA System and Siren, with control switches identified by Traffolyte Data Plates.

Britax Worklights were installed for checking the thousands of meters of security fencelines, while an ultra bright LED Driving Lamp Bar was mounted on the nudge bar with long range Spotlights. All this operated via dash mounted Carling Rocker Switches.

The team also designed and installed a bvuilt in Auxillary Battery Jump Start System which enables the operator, in the event of a flat battery, to jumpstart the vehicle by simply pressing a button near the steering wheel.

Hi Vis Reflexite Warning tape was also applied to the vehicle along with custom made decal artwork and identifying asset numbers.

A Digital Engine Hour Controller with Digital Hourmeter was fitted to enable efficient service monitoring of their new asset.
